SOPA Blackout - Wed Jan 18, 2012

#BlackoutSOPA - Don’t forget to do your part.

In just less than 3 hours, some of the internet’s biggest websites will be blacking out its content as a protest to SOPA (a.k.a. Stop Online Piracy Privacy Act). If you don’t know what SOPA is, then you should start reading through the itnernet more. I posted about this awhile back but I’m sure someone on the internet has worded the explanation better than I did. #BlackoutSOPA is a protest wherein a website will black out its contents for 12 hours. Here are the list of confirmed big websites that will join in the protest.

In front of the line is, yes Google. Along with a ton of other well known sites. I’m not sure if Facebook will join in at the last minute but it’s likely so that they won’t. In the case that you don’t want to overly black out your site, you can still put a “STOP CENSORSHIP” banner over your logo just like what I did here. To do that, simply go to http://americancensorship.org/. I really hope youtake part in this as it is no joke. The internet could very well be a barren wasteland if this passes.
